[It doesn't take Fern very long to make his way over to Usagi's. He isn't one hundred percent sure about this, but it's more of a test than anything, and Usagi has never steered him wrong. He trusts her fully, and it does seem like the opportunity to not be grass - even if it's just for a little while - will help him clear his head. Sort some things about his identity out.
It'll be fine. As long as the city doesn't interfere, it'll be fine.
He's still a bit nervous as he makes his way up the front steps of the Pink Monster. At least seeing the house is a nice comfort, though he still takes a few moments to brace himself before knocking on the door.]
[She puts her hand up into the air and transforms, Eternal Sailor Moon now standing in her living room. She summoned her Tiare.
She tilted her head, and smiled, smiling as light began to gather at the crystal in the top.]
You don't have to do anything. Just relax and close your eyes, it will get bright in here. I will take care of the rest.
[She moved her Tiare in front of her, letting it levitate into the air before she willed her crystal to turn Fern human, a blinding white light filling the room and surrounding Fern.]
[Okay, here we go. No going back now. When she transforms he straightens up a little, wanting to present himself a little better than the barbarian disaster that he is.]
Okay. can do.
[He does as Usagi says and closes his eyes. If he could draw in a deep breath he would, but instead just curls his hands into fists. Even with his eyes closed the light is bright, and he can feel it surround himself.]
[When the light disappears, leaving as quickly as it came, but it had done what it was supposed to. It seeped into his mind, seeking out what Fern would have wanted to look like as a human, and offered him that. So, there is no longer a Grass child standing in her living room. Instead is a human child, hope you enjoy having to suddenly BREATHE now, Fern.
She notices the missing arm, not commenting on it, however, since her magic had sought the image of a human Fern would have wanted most. She smiled.]
You can open your eyes now, Fern. You're human, now.
[Makoto had been in her room reading a little when she felt the surge of energy downstairs. Getting up she rushed out of her room, managing to only hit platform in the middle of the stairs where they changed direction. She didn't change yet, but she put her hand on her crystal when she saw the fading light before making it to the living room and entrance way.]
Sailor moon. Is everything alright?
[Stopping in her tracks she rubbed her eyes a moment. Looking at the boy that was standing in front of Sailor Moon.]
[She turned to Makoto, realizing the other senshi most definitely would have noticed that transformation.
Oops! She blushes and detransforms, scratching the back of her head.]
Ah! Everything is okay, Mako-chan! Sorry if I worried you!
[She looked over to Fern and smiled, moving her hands to rest on top of his shoulders.]
Mako-chan, allow me to introduce you to Fern. [She rested a hand atop his blonde hair.] I turned him human for the day! Ah, speaking of which, Fern-kun, this lasts for 24 hours. And if you anyone asks, just let them know Sailor Moon changed you.
[It's a weird, sort of uncomfortable feeling. The Finn part of Fern doesn't mind it at all, but there's a tug of resistance from the Grass Demon part of his mind. Thankfully that isn't overwhelming though, and he tries his best to roll with the feeling of becoming human.
He doesn't wind up looking exactly like Finn, just mostly, and as his grass turns into flesh the grass making up his right arm withers and sheds off. It's been a few years since it happened, but he's come to accept having only one arm as a part of being human, so his body changes to reflect that. There are a few stray flowers still stuck in his hair, which is now normal human hair and not grass, and his weird claw toes are replaced with normal human ones.
It takes him a few beats longer than normal to realize he's holding his breath and he suddenly gasps and wow, that is not a sensation he thinks he'll ever get used to. When Usagi says so he blinks his eyes open - green, instead of blue - and looks down at his hand and stump.]
Whoa.... [He still sounds like Fern, at least. That's another good sign he didn't go full Finn.
He blinks at the sound of a new voice and looks up, giving Makoto an awkward wave.]
Uh, hey. [And he gives Usagi a little nod.] Sure, will do.
[Don't mind him he needs to stare at his hand a little more.]
Wait. . . [Wait, that was Fern, he was Human now?!? Was he human before? Makoto had about a dozen questions, but for the moment she just went with it. If it was for twenty-four hours it was a pretty limited time.
Looking at Fern she returns the wave as he turns his attention to his hands.]
Oh, yeah, you're going to have remember to breathe for now.
Whiiiich brings me to the next point! Fern, this only lasts for 24 hours. And, more importantly, if ANYONE asks how or who did this, you HAVE to tell them Sailor Moon was the one who changed you, NOT Usagi, kay?
[She nudged him towards Makoto so she could properly feed him and care for him like the mom-friend she was.]
Yeah, breathing's weird. Skin is weird. [Having a pulse is weird. So much weirdness going on, and he feels like he needs to sit down for a minute or something though he notices Usagi is nudging him towards Makoto.]
Right, yeah. Usagi who? This was all Sailor Moon. [He repeats that in his head a few times, to make sure he doesn't forget, before focusing on Makoto's questions.]
I feel, uh - weird. Human bodies got a lot going on, y'know? And I'm not really sure, just... try to get used to this? [And not break down under the pressure and try to go back to being Finn, that is very important.]
Yeah, there's a lot that we don't think about, but it's pretty weird. But how about something to eat, you're going to need energy if you're going to do anything fun.
[And you know talk about other things about being human.]
It will be good to take it easy at first, but if there's anything you want to try we can help.
Usagi who is right. [She tapped Fern on the nose.] Human bodies are very fragile but strong at the same time. You'll get used to it in enough time to enjoy the day.
[She moved to hug onto Makoto's arm, the headache that had been starting to begin immediately disappearing.]
Mako-chan is the best cook ever. [She grins, winking at Fern.] And the first thing any new human needs to do is eat!
[Fern perks up immediately. Oh yeah, Makoto and Usagi are right! Food is a thing he can do without needing magic scout badges. He's distracted momentarily by the nose boop, but then he's right back to looking like a teenager who hasn't eaten in years.]
Yeah, yeah, Finn was tough, so I should be fine. [AKA he isn't going to be careful, because he's dumb like that.] Food sounds great, though!
[Tough and resilient were two things that people certainly could be, and the way that Makoto made it through pretty much everything. So caution wasn't exactly the best thing for her to lecture about.]
While we eat you can figure out other activities too. Everyone going to be pretty surprised to see you.
[She grinned as she skipped over to the kitchen, grabbing her stepstool and pulling down everyone's mug. She began to make hot chocolate since the weather called for something warm and toasty.]
OH! Ah- you know... actually... Never mind. [She was about to mention now he could try kissing Varian as a human and then decided against it because, weeelll he had enough on his emotional plate at the moment than needing to be embarrassed. Still, Usagi adored being and getting kissed so when Makoto mentioned "activities" it was one of the first that came to mind.]
Maybe you should find someone to spar with, Fern! You can see how different it is from grass.
[Sorry guys, it's probably not the best choice, especially here, but it's his favourite food and the first thing that's coming to mind. He wants to eat it like a regular human while he has the chance.
He does pause a little though, looking over at Usagi curiously, clueless as to what she's thinking.]
Oh - uh, yeah! Sparring would be pretty fun. I guess I'd have to be a lot more careful though, and I'd need to go dig out one of my swords.
[It's certainly not what Makoto was expecting. But she could probably scrounge up everything that they would need for it. The main thing they might be missing was the sauce for it.]
That won't take too long to make. What else do you want to go with it though?
[Beacuse that really didn't seem like something you would have rice with. She would also have to have Usagi or Fynn do the taste testing as well.]
I'll go a few rounds with you, though I don't know about using a sword.
[She filled up the kettle and put it on the stove while getting out hot cocoa packets.]
Does hot cocoa go with meatloaf? [It was a special occasion, which meant special drinks. But as Usagi didn't want Fern to get anywhere close to drunk, they'd have to settle on things like hot cocoa or soda.]
[Fern has to think on this, because it's been a few years. What does go with meatloaf? Good question, and thankfully, Usagi is providing an excellent suggestion that makes him snap his fingers and point at her.]
Great idea! Hot cocoa goes with everything!
[At least, it does when you're a kid who grew up right next to a literal kingdom made of sugar.]
Cool, we can fight after. If you need any sword help I gave some lessons to a few other Sleepers, happy to do that here too.
[Alright, so meat, bread crumbs, Makoto started gathering everything that they would need why Usagi go the kettle and started that. She probably would have settled for tea or water, but there was no reason the other two couldn't have cocoa.]
I don't really know anything about swords. I've never used a weapon like that before.
But a lot of people seem to be offering lately, so maybe I should. Rei even has one. I'm not sure Atsushi would be too happy about it though.
[Usagi's usage of a sword was... incredibly limited but highly effective.]
Atsushi would likely just want you to be happy, Mako-chan, and if that means learning to use a sword, I'm sure he'd support it. [She offered over her shoulder.]
Fern, you'll get to try Mako-chan's cooking! She's like, the BEST chef in all of Trench! I would bet money on it!
[Fern is going to lean against the counter, trying to stay out of the way. He's pretty sure he'd just make everything twice as long if he tried to help.]
Who's Atsushi? [He's looking between them curiously.] It can't hurt to learn, especially in a world where there're monsters roaming around.
[Better safe than sorry, right? And he perks up at the mention of how good of a cook Makoto is.]
He's the sweetest and most helpful guy, he's been Usagi's roomie since before I got here. He's my boyfriend.
[Makoto still blushed a little at introducing him that way, even after how long it had been. She knew that he wouldn't object to her wanting to learn, just to the fact that it might be dangerous and that she should be careful.]
I don't know about the best, but I'm pretty good. I was giving a few people lessons before. If you ever want to learn.

You ready to be human?
